We're two friends who love to cook. This blog is about our experiences and adventures in cooking things we'd normally buy off the shelf at a grocery store: mayonnaise, truffle salt, grenadine syrup, almond paste, lemon curd, herbed vinegar, vanilla extract, hot sauce, and more.
We love to experiment to see what we can make in our own kitchens with a little research and ingenuity. There will likely be many disasters along the way, but a successful final product is so exciting and satisfying: it's much better tasting, and less expensive, than its grocery store counterpart. And we know exactly what went into making it so we're avoiding overpriced packaged foods with scary ingredient lists. (Yellow No. 5? No, thank you.)
There will be plenty of pretty photos, recipes that use our newly minted ingredients, and more. We also like to throw dinner parties, so maybe we'll tell you about those too. If we don't drink too much wine to remember how to set up our cameras, that is.
Dulcie is an east-coaster married to a west-coaster who has ended up living in the mountains of Colorado. She loves stripes, horses, design, music, and The Wire.
Sarah came to Colorado by way of Seattle (she missed the sun). She loves animals of all sorts, farm stuff, books, coffee, daydreaming about living in southern France, wine, and bicycle touring.
Oh, and we've got a couple of spunky toddlers in the mix so we're also always on the lookout for things that work with the kids... those fickle beasts!
Consider yourself followed! I'm in love with this blog name.
